NICOYA : A CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY
By: Dr. Philip L. Wagner
Comments by the Author:
"NICOYA.." resulted from field work for my doctorate at Berkeley. Although entitled a "historical geography," it also focused on some subjects of even more interest to me. Notably, it sought to document a way of life gradually fading away, and to highlight the relationship it embodied between people and their habitat, mediated through a simple but effective technology. That theme became central to most of my later writings, as the successive books portrayed here -- as well as the articles listed in my bibliography -- will show. PLW |
